Sumoscience is a game designed for enthusiasts keen on expanding their knowledge of sumo wrestling. It intricately replicates the physical dynamics involving wrestlers, including forces and collisions. Players can execute a variety of techniques such as frontal pushouts, belt pushouts, slapdowns, and throws. The game offers the option to practice in a dedicated room or put skills to the test in one or two-player tournaments.

The practice room enables players to fine-tune their abilities by adjusting attack styles and opponent difficulty levels. Additionally, an automatic play mode allows observation of computer-controlled matches.

In Sumoscience, players embody the wrestler adorned in a yellow belt, with a first-person perspective of their opponent on the right side. Various attacks can be initiated via on-screen buttons:

  1. Chest Attack: Engage the red button to execute a forceful frontal push while moving forward.
  2. Slapdown: Pull down the yellow button to reach for the opponent's head with your arm. Moving backward after initial contact adds force to the action, effective only when the opponent is advancing.
  3. Grip Belt: Utilize the green buttons to grasp the opponent's belt. A successful grip, indicated by a blue button, can lead to pushing or even lifting the adversary - potential escape lies in swift turns.
  4. Throw: Seize the opportunity to execute a throw by swiftly turning towards your grip direction and subsequently stepping forward.

Movement controls are situated on the left side, while turning is controlled by dragging the central button left or right.

The tournament room facilitates competitive gameplay with a tiered ranking system ranging from Maegashira to Yokozuna. Advancement requires winning specific numbers of matches within tournaments. Notably, securing promotion to Yokozuna status necessitates consecutive tournament victories.

Moreover, Sumoscience incorporates customizable features like changing sumo belt colors within match settings. This simple adjustment enhances personalization and engagement within gameplay.

For interactive multiplayer experiences, a two-player room allows users to engage over wifi connections. By selecting designated player positions and commencing matches, participants can engage in compelling head-to-head encounters.

Sumoscience excels in simulating authentic sumo challenges ranging from basic techniques like chest pushes to intricate maneuvers such as throws. Emphasizing strategic positioning and movement coordination mirrors real-world sumo wrestling fundamentals.
